Treeform is a generative art piece that explores the fractal properties of trees as a means of producing endlessly fascinating visuals. At the heart of Treeform is a recursively generated tree. Each of the nodes of this invisible tree is rotated, translated, shrunk, and grown according to a set of parameters that can be manipulated in realtime. The nodes produce trails which transition between colors over time. Additional effects like video feedback are also applied, on occasion.
In collaboration with my partner, Jessica Anderson, this piece was projection mapped onto a 13-foot diameter geodesic dome installation, part of a Field Experiment finalist for the Hambidge Art Auction at The Goat Farm Arts Center, for what became a kick-ass dance party.
The project was developed in Unity.
